Make money when people leave your website…

Recently opended up for public Beta, GapAd is the brainchild of Freak Marketing’s Jay Feeney and is the only advertising network that allows websites to make money when their users leave their site!

In short, GapAd takes a leaf out of the TV advertising world and, rather than present ads to a user while they are trying to read the content on a blog, presents the advertising while they are between one blog and another one.

A blogger signs up for GapAd, and installs a simple WordPress plugin.  Then, whenever someone clicks on a link on their website that goes off their site, GapAd inserts a short ad in between the sites, while the new page is loading.

The blogger, or GapAd user, can decide for themselves how exactly this behaves, for example how long the intermediate ad will be shown to the user.  GapAd has sophisticated “targeting” technology to ensure that the ad is relevant to both the source and destination websites, and this technology learns over time what works best.

This has several benefits, both to the blog author, and to the reader, including:
• Reduces the need for annoying and distracting advertising on the blog itself, competing with the blog’s content
• Now, rather than off-blog links being a way to lose pageviews, it becomes a way to make money
• This augments, but does not compete with, any existing advertising the blogger is using (such as AdSense)
